Nov 2004 - Aug 2006: Phoenix Technologies B.V

EMEA Network Engineer, responsible for 2 offices in Germany and Holland administering and maintaining the network environment, file and print services and infrastructure. I designed a hardware independent Windows XP Pro desktop image including "core" applications, MUI language packs and automated post installation of hardware specific apps to standardize the desktop. Redesigned, restructured and secured data and application installation source files on the network, to implement into a DFS structure for Germany and Holland as a "pilot" for enterprise wide implementation.

Migrated Exchange 2003 server to new HP Proliant DL380 G4 hardware and implemented SP2 for mobile 5 push technology and IIS for web mail access. Cisco Untiy Migration running on Server 2000 to Server 2003 on new hardware.

I coordinated research, planning and implementation of a corporate mobile contract agreement for cost savings on telephony.

Created a Virtual LAB environment with Vmware Virtual centre, GSX server and workstation. I became more involved in a "First Customer" role acting as a medium between the business and IT to evaluate and roll-out Phoenix applications internally, documenting and reporting all findings back to the engineering group for possible improvement or modifications of the products. Provide global 3rd tier support. Migration of all production servers from DELL Poweredge to new HP Proliant DL series.

May 2001 - Nov 2004: Rockwell Automation B.V.

I started off as Local Desktop support technician responsible for 3 offices in The Netherlands. As the company moved towards centralized management and initiated a MS Windows 2000 migration project from Novell NDS, I was promoted to the roll of EMEA Desktop Engineer where I eventually lead a team of five engineers in the design, development and implementation of a managed Windows 2000 desktop environment.

Responsibilities included designing a multi-hardware compatible Desktop image for deployment to over 3,500 clients across EMEA, as well as developing a Windows 2000 image specific to our CAD development dept. As the migration came closer to completion, and the difficulties in keeping a 2.2Gb OS image up-to-date and available across the EMEA region became apparent, we moved away from the image-based Desktop and went onto design an unattended scripted installation for the existing Windows 2000-based machines, although primarily for XP, regionally distributed via DFS (also replacing the previous CAD image with a redesigned XP image).

Furthermore, I was responsible for implementing an EMEA-wide SUS environment running on HP Proliant servers for Client Security updates and patches released for authorisation on a bi-weekly basis.
Other roles and responsibilities included daily Active Directory administration, file and print services maintenance and administration, Altiris administration (both DS and NS), Software packaging using WISE Studio, SAV administration and provided third line support in the post-migration operational environment. Designed and implemented a secured file structure in DFS for the software repository, replicating data throughout the EMEA region including application data and IT scripts, tools etc. for a central and secure point of administration.

Aug 2000 - Dec 2000 : Techni-link
